Octopus Print Birch Sketchbook

The cover of this notebook is made of baltic birch wood. The front panel is decorated with a fine line drawing of an octopus. The illustration is original art work that I transfer onto the wood and then both front and back covers are cast in a clear resin, protecting them and giving the book a beautiful finish. The pages are bound by coptic stitch with light purple cotton thread. The coptic binding allows the book to lay open flat, making it easy to write and draw on every page. The paper is Canson 140lb watercolor paper. It holds up well with a large variety of artistic mediums, making this book great for a variety of uses including painting, drawing, writing and collage.

All of my books are handmade from start to finish. I cut the paper, sand and decorate the boards, pour the casting, sew the binding. I love the process of every step, and I love that in the end I've created something that will hopefully go on to be filled with some one else's art, ideas, and memories. I try to make every one of my books unique.
